Speed of Indexing New Pages

Index page only indexing now?

I have been involved in a number of websites which have launched in the last few weeks. In all cases they have entered Google, but only with a single index page. These spand different webhosts, different developers, and different countries.

In my experience all of these would have had a bit of a deeper crawl long before now. One site was an existing indexed site with a new page structure - all the old pages are dropped, but no new pages have been added.

Have any other webmasters seen this trend? Or, have you successfully got a new site indexed (even if not well ranked!) this month?

As I see it, it's not only new sites.

My site, from 1997, has it's latest cached page from December 7, and this is most irregular. Normally new pages from that site are indexed in one or two days.

I have a site launched in November that has only the index page showing on most dc's but on a testing dc was showing fully indexed for about a day but that is gone.
Deep crawl will probably come a little later. I think google is into a reeeaaalll weird testing thing right now. Just a bad time to launch a site.

Yes, that's what I'm figuring - seems they've put a hold on all but index pages until they can finish the post-jagger shuffling?

That is they way thay have basically done it for years. To get other pages in faster, you need to get high PR deep links to your other pages. I think they have just tightened up how easy it is to manipulate getting into the index quicker.

A long time ago, it was the case that you'd wait for months for listings, however, it has long been the case that listings can be expected within days where there are good links into the site. Something has changed!
