Are Affiliates fine by Google Standards

Hi,

I wanted to ask how good affilate marketing can be for a big directory. Rather than placing links of our own sites, if we place links of other affilates. In banner, anchor links.

Would that be fine with Google. Then it would not consider that as any kind of link farm, or spam technique.
