Hi All

Just wondering what peoples experiences are on google indexing new sites.

I launched a site 3 weeks ago. Got 2 links on PR5 sites within a day or so, but only natural links since then (quite a few which I'm happy about!). Google came by and indexed the homepage within a day or two, as expected. Kept indexing the homepage every few days, but no deeper (site has roughly 300 pages). I published a complete google sitemap & registered it at sitemaps. Same. A few days ago, it started doing a deep index. It's crawled about 200 pages so far, but doing a
site:wwWebmasterWorldidgets.com
in google only shows up the homepage, nothing more.

Is this normal behaviour? Is there typically a lag between indexing & showing up in the index? Any suggestions what I should expect?

Cheers,

Mark

Yes, it's very normal behavior. Getting past the "home page only" situation takes time. Just check your logs to make sure that googlebot is taking your other content, and eventually it shows up.

It is particularly difficult right now. Google is not really indexing deeply as they are still messing with the jagger update. Give it til january.
