Shortcuts to subpages in Google search result

I make following search:
[google.com...]
Below result #1 (netflix.com) I see following links:
Investor Relations - Contact Us
Affiliates - Browse Selection
all linking on to relevant subpagees on netflix.com

Anybody with information on to how provoke this?

Can't provoke it. Google does it all automagically.

Automagically... but why some sites and not others?

Ok, I got some ideas now (but somebody must know for sure):

1. Google predicts step #2 the user will take after entering the site in question (using toolbar data).
I.e. you search for "netflix" (google then knows from toolbar data that a certain percentage continues to "Browse Selection" - and then shows that link in order to improve the user experience.

2. Google recognizes sub sites that get high rankings on the same keywords shown in
(Less likely)

3. Some of both but also something else...

I have seen following at two searches "Join Now" and "Sign Up" - I do find that desirable for my own sites as well as my customers site. Some scenarios - I'll guess - are undesirable!

Sure, the folks at the 'Plex, like Matt Cutts. But the most he says [mattcutts.com] is that "it’s all algorithmic." Wouldn't expect them to share much more.

Are you sure this isn't done by human editors? I've seen some examples, and it seems to smart to be not done by a human.

Since Google likes to do whatever it can algorithmically, I can't think of a reason for Matt to waffle on this one.

It's not human - nobody would employ people for such a small detail... The web is too big and why not make people do the serps then?
