How to deal with sitemap.xml update

I got a free dreamweaver extension that generates google sitemaps. The result is an xml file containing not only url but also last modification date and priority. The problem is the script "guess" the priority and that's odd (I dont blame it, is just impossible for a program to tell what is important for you automatically).

However every time I update my site I must run that command and upload the xml. But I must manually change the priority parameter by hand, what means editing EVERY url on my site everytime I run sitemap generator.

It would be gret a tool that lets you specify (and remember) the url priority for an easier up to date sitemap.

Do you know how to deal with that?

Its pointless doing FTP by hand each time you add a new page because I dot think you will get anything out of it apart from the very good crawl statistics provided by Google. You can just leave those fields out because you only need the URL's listed.

Or just use your RSS 2 if you have one.

Search for "#*$!" they have a neat software that does the same and you can add pages to your site-map without loosing the all the work on the old onse.
Where did you get the plug-in for DW I would like to see it...is it in DW exchange?

So you say updating you sitemap with last modification date is not usefull at all?
