Can G 'remember' my short and long named

website relationship. I use acronym with redirect to long named website.

I have a long 3 word domain name but also use a short acronym (say www.XYZ.com) which has a redirect to the main site. (People cannot remember/mistype long names)

Some inexperienced web users type the URL into Google's search (instead of the address bar of IE) but Google cannot find us.

In the long name site I do make mention of the short name in the index page, it has been there for 6 months and Google does crawl the main site.

This can't be a new problem surely.
