Hi, novice poster, in dire need of an answer. Our new site (since Jan '05) is posted in quite a few places on the net, programs show AltaVista has the most linkbacks shown, then MSN, then Google only has ONE! And that one link is from an internal link within our own website.

Some of the linkbacks are from pages with good pagerank stats (such as the CES webpage).

Why doesn't google see all these other links even if they've deemed those pages as somewhat important?

Google does see your links -- but they intentionally do not publicly show all the links in their index, just a small sampling. The Google algorithm is much more sensitive to links than other search engines, so they are protecting their data in an effort to limit intentional manipulation.

Hi ,
I agree to you upto some extent but what does it mean? By protecting this data from the world ,what Google want to show? and then whats the real method to know our progress(in terms of Back links )
besides this tell me one more thing in case of Google
the command Link:http://mywebsite , usually shows the self links besides of real back links , and counts both as b-links .

My site has good navigation and internal linking , but still google does not shows that self links. Can u suggest me , How we can increase those self links?
