Trying to understand Change

We recently changed our programming language from coldfusion to .NET. Internal links to my homepage have a suffix of www.widget.com/index.aspx
as compared to my regular home page of www.widget.com.

This seems to have caused a problem. I have lost huge ranking positions as the index.aspx has only a PR1 vs the regular home page of PR5

Will changing the www.widget.com/index.aspx back to www.widget.com rectify the problem?
