Hi,

I have recently copied and pasted the google search engine code into my site that allows users to search both the web and my site. However, when I try search my own site using keywords that I know exist in my site the search engine does not pick up any of my pages. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Tom

Hi, Tommy, and Welcome to WebmasterWorld.

The Google site search code will only find your pages if they are in Google's main search index. It's the equivalent of doing the search [widgets site:www.mysite.com] in Google, where you are searching for widgets, and your website is www.mysite.com.

If you can't find your page in Google, you won't be able to find it in site search either. If you can find your page in google, but not in the site search, then something may be configured incorrectly.

Thanks,

I have submitted my site to Google's sitemap program. Hopefully this will help getting my pages indexed.
