I have used + character in url instead of dash(-) or under score(_). Is this character is valid in respect of search engines.

If there is no specific reason for using +, I would suggest you to use hyphen instead; IMO it's proven to be the best performer of all the alternatives.

If you check out Matt Cutt's blog you'll find some info on this. Just recently he pointed out clearly that Google (and in his opinion, most other search engines) strongly prefer hypenated strings as opposed to underscores etc.
