Extra links on Google search results

I recently searched the term "blu ray" on google and found the top site, blu-ray.com has links to it's pages below the description. I don't think this is a new thing, but I haven't really noticed it before. Anyone know how sites get this to happen? I would sure like my google listings to have this feature.

I found similar:
When searching for "rsync" found the top listed site has more info than usual in googles search results... it has the main navigation links from the site in the results listing.

Is this a result of the Google Sitemaps thingy?
Anyone know more info?

Seems to be a sampling of their simple menu system. It's what they have in common. Or is it a paid placement?

Hi,

Just done a search for one of my sites I noticed 4 other links to some important pages under the main link.

Just to be clear, I dont do google sitemaps or paid ads. Im very impressed with this - these pages may not be my most popular, but they are pretty much on target :)

Well - there 'must' be some 'logic' to it ... and if there is ... some way of identifying it?

A SERP listing like that is likely to convert many more searchers to site visitors!

Actually - i just re-read:

So presumably Google selects this small number of sites?

Yes. This has happened on one SERP where a competing website long has had the #1 and #2 spots, and mine #3 and #4. The curious thing is when Google did this to the competing site, THEY ALSO removed that second, indented listing. Thus my site was bumped to #2 and #3 on that SERP.

i believe its only a matter of time before this is rolled out / made available to all sites - if G think it helps their users then why would they not?

It's my understanding that they give it to what google consider to be "authority" sites on the search term - you don't see it for any of the big money terms, but a search for one of my sites (the official site of the actress Melissa George - not exactly big money!) gives you the four results.

Having said that, 1 of the 4 is a page which isn't even linked to from anywhere else on the site.

Even more confusing is where they get the anchortext for the links from - it certainly isn't anything I have written, which makes me suspect it might *just* be done by hand... though why Google considers my site worth doing this to I *don't* know...

The only thing I can think is that most people doing a search will *probably* click on my site and then not go anywhere else, since it's pretty comprehensive (being the official site and all).
