On [webmasterworld.com...] the post by markdidj at the bottom of the page indicates "After my ban, site cleanup and manual check by G I became top for "animated widget"".

What is a manual check by G? Does Google do manual checks of webpages on request?

Google does not like to talk about anything manual but there is a small amount of manual work done. Do not expect Google to manually look at your site unless you are:

A)doing something really bad that they want to stop
B)got special connections
C)very lucky/unlucky (depending on the situation)
D)new majority stockholder of Google

Anyone here heard of the "Google Human Editor Guidelines"? An intriguing document that's come my way, not sure how genuine it is, though either way it's pretty close to the mark.

Got a copy. Apparently it's quite genuine but didn't hold any real shocks - just confirmed for us that being naughty isn't wise.

Aye, no real shocks apart from "HUMAN EDITOR GUIDELINES" i.e. they DO manually review the results in order to weed out the crap. I was also intrigued at how well they knew certain industries - I would have offered my services as a consultant if I knew they were pulling that together ;-)

Mine is titled different, and there is no way it will be posted. You must be loyal to those who share with you or they will stop. :-)

Bottom Line: Follow the advice from the senior members here and it is basically the entire document.

Cheers,
