In what could be a key move in its nascent wireless strategy, Google (GOOG ) has quietly acquired startup Android Inc., BusinessWeek Online has learned. The 22-month-old startup, based in Palo Alto, Calif., brings to Google a wealth of talent, including co-founder Andy Rubin, who previously started mobile-device maker Danger Inc.
Think of a search which takes into account a users location and time. Only possible with GPS and phones with assisted GPR or cell based location data.
Type in "happy hour" or Pizza Delivery into any google search today and you get fairly irrelevant results.
I'd personally like to see some protocols being developed based around bluetooth for crawling location data ... think of shops broadcasting their special deals via bluetooth, this getting picked up by cell phone based crawlers.....

Danger Inc. was the company that created Dodgeball.com, another company that G purchased.
..netting possibly a key player in its push into wireless, "the next frontier in search"
This is a remarkable coincidence. I submitted my WAP Deck URL to Google Wireless Search 33 months ago. The URL was added to Google WEB Search within 30 days but it did not show up in Google Wireless Search until this week.
