Hello from Scandinavia!

Finally took the time to subscribe to this forum..should have been done a long time ago ;-)

First posting/question:

It probably isn't news to many of you but it was to me.

The other day when I used a program to check for rankings for one of my clients (used topdog pro) it turned out that Google had blocked my IP as I was "using some sort of spyware/virus to send multiple queries to Google".

Now...this was new to me that a simple run of Topdog, or perhaps Webposition, should result in a blocked IP...any indications that Google is beginning to hit harder on this sort of software?

They have always blocked this kind of thing. If you use them very occasionally then you'll be okay - but hammering at Google's servers constantly will get you banned in no time.

My advice is to either use a proxy or to set a delay in your searches.

It worth mentioning that google also block certain user agents like wget, etc..

Previously I too faced the same problem, now I have using the software which uses Google API.

There is option in Google to get Authentication key just copy and paste the key into your software.

Using the Google API, will not block the IP address.
