Disappearing Sites

"Sorry, no information is available for the URL"

Two days ago I noticed that two sites we own disappeared from Google.

When searching for the URL Google returns: Sorry, no information is available for the URL

There is no cache available for those two pages.

All other pages in the sites are still indexed and have a cached page available. However, even the internal pages now rank dismally for their terms.

This doesn't look like any type of penalty that I've seen, or heard of, before.

I would love to hear any comments from anyone who has seen these symptoms before. Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.

And before anyone asks... No, there is not any duplicate content. Each site represents a specific geographic area that our office services. Different content, different designs, nothing I can find against any search engines TOS.

Thanks for the help,
Jim

ditto same thing happened with me ... no homepage cache, no information found for homepage ... rest all pages were in index ...

that site was having 302 redirects ... i shorted out that issue ... google has taken some time but now everything is ok ....

check your redirects, etc. ... and if everything seems fine and if you havn't done any changes to your sites then simply give time .. these all things are normal these days .. :)

Same problem for my site too. Reappeared after 3 weeks and nowhere in SERPs since then.

I have send a query to Google about this, as of now I didn't received any reply.

Practically this happens to all brand new sites in many seach engines. Don't worry this unstable position and even exclusion of a site from the index - is a temporary thing. Just allow the robots visit your site more often (at least every 2 days) and your site will be up there again.

How to "force" robots crawl your site? Just build reciprocal link campaign and add new content to a site more often.

Is there a concensus here? Is there evidence that Google is completely
trashing sites with abusive outgoing 302 redirects? This is a non-trivial matter.
Collateral damage aside, it could be really good news for the net. -Larry

The consensus is that Big Hands has edited you out of the internet. You have been censored.

When I type my domain name in now, I am asked "Do you mean Google?" LOL. Nope, that isn't what I meant.

My largest site has been removed from Google. I'm talking huge site.

I don't know what the issue is here, but I have contacted my Google Adsense rep and also emailed webmaster support email address.

I am currently in a foreign country and this is going to kill me.

There is absolutely no pages left in google and we're talking in the thousands and I've been building this site up since 1997.

Any suggestions on how to get this fixed are extremely appreciated.

GoogleGuy said they were cleaning out the scrapers yesterday.

One of my largest sites suffered as well - AND I M NOT A SCRAPER! Original content since 1998, and always near the top of the serps. Google completely removed the site from the index yesterday, along with many others that had "scraper" or "directory" characteristics.

I don't think anything can be done at this point. I have sent several e-mails to Gppgle asking them to manually look at the site to see that it is not a scraper.

I have heard that the best thing to do is abandon the domain. Is this correct. I hate to go through a process of renaming and reincorporating my company in a new name - filing for a new tax ID, etc. and everything that goes with it.

That seems a bit premature. If you have a legitimate site that's been listed for years, why not report the mistaken purge to Google, sit tight for a while, and see what happens? (For what it's worth, my own site recently lost 75-90% of its Google referrals over a two-month period, but it came back stronger than ever--as have some other sites that have been victims of Google glitches in the past.)

EFV, that is good advice but you were demoted in the rankings, not banned. A ban has very negative connotations.

My PPC site that was banned had a PR6 and many one way links. A long enough ban could easily destroy and brand you may have built. You cannot even recover any money since no one will buy the domain.

I could understand if this "purge" removed rankings, but killing entire domains is Draconian. These "shock and awe" updates are getting tough to ignore.

I have to question the original post:

There is no cache available for those two pages.

All other pages in the sites are still indexed and have a cached page available. However, even the internal pages now rank dismally for their terms.

So, did two sites disappear? If so, I don't see how "all other pages in the sites are still indexed" can be true.

Or, is it that two pages disappeared?

In response to the above post. The original headline (edited by moderator) stated that the Index pages of the two sites had been removed.

Only the index pages for the two sites have been affected.

Well,

I just got back to the Internet cafe after doing some thinking about how I can recover this extremely upsetting drawback. I have both contacted my Google Adsense rep and emailed Google's webmaster service twice, the second time was "Request mistaken purge" which was in a calmer but decisive tone.

This web site is how I make my living and I am visiting a foreign country for 3 months. This is huge on my side. I do not plan on purchasing another domain name :\ If I can't get this sorted out, then I will be forced to.

I will keep in constant contact with Google and get this fixed. Even if it means contacting them several times per week.

Best of luck to everyone else who had this happen.

(Just to clarify, I have two directories on my site -- one for shareware/freeware downloads and a dmoz-based directory that I've fixed up for my site and added some of my own regional content). This is by no means a scraper, though.

If anybody wants to work together on this, I am willing to share my experiences and success in rectifying this.

Yes, if it's a manual ban, but Rx Recruiter doesn't yet know for sure if that's the case. I'm just saying he/she needs to learn more or see what happens before taking the drastic step of starting over with a new domain.

illusionist,

It is the exact same issue here! Site: command comes up with absolutely nothing :( :(

I have decided that I am not removing my site, just in case Google changes it's "mind." But I am franticly scrambling about for new income not tied to the old site.

But I have been reading tales like this on this forum and others for a long time. Just hoped it would never happen to me. Switching gears like this is very stressful and yes I hold it against Google.

I do feel evil has been done to me, if there was cause I should have gotten some warning. A partner, client or supplier with a long standing relationship does not do this without warning.

Sometimes companies do reckless thinks like this because they are short of cash. Other times they do it because they let bots run things. That is evil.

That clears it up. In that case do what the second poster advised and if everything appears to be okay just wait it out. Stuff happens sometimes.

Listen to EFV.

I had a seven year-old 11,000 pager go "Sorry, no information is available." A few weeks later it started climbing back and now it's back in the number one position.

Don't panic. (Unless you're a scraper, of course ;))

This in an update for all of you that have experienced this problem.

Both of my sites index pages have returned.

The first returned a couple of days after my original post and the second returned today.
