Empty Technorati Tags OK for Google?

How risky is it to leave out the link text?

I've recently started putting Technorati tags (rel="tag") into my blog posts. Since I use Blogger, these have to be placed manually into the body of the post--generally I put them on the bottom in tiny text.

One website noted that Bloggers can safely leave out the link text--i.e. put nothing between the anchor tags. I've tried it, and Technorati still recognizes the links as tags. But now I'm wondering if Google will penalize a site that includes dozens or hundreds of posts which include such unclickable links.

Any thoughts?
