I've come across a very popular website that according to Google, has 65,000 links indexed.

When I go from page to page, every page I have come across is at least a PR3 if not higher. When I then type the url for this page in google, not all of them have been indexed.

My question is how can a webpage have a pr of 3 or greater and yet that specific page is not listed in the Google SE?

Thank you

PR is screwed up right now and the numbers it's giving can't be trusted.

Also, PR has nothing or little to do with G SERP's. As to how much or any at all, each person will have a different answer.

Having pagerank doesn't mean a page has to be indexed. It just means Google has seen the URL on another page and assigned PR to the URL. This is normal.

One of my sites has been alternating between PR0 and PR6 the last several PR updates (currently is PR6 again), but gets NO traffic from Google (even at PR6). It never got much when it did though, although similar sites of mine get up to several hundred referrals per day from Google.

One possible reason is that the site was down for a few days, and then moved to a new host (a rather expensive one, but shared IP); so maybe the shared IP is banned. Or maybe someone at Google looked at it and didn't like it; or maybe some new filter decided the site was junk. I dunno. Google does show 12 pages to be indexed, and 131 inbound links (for what that is worth; MSN shows over 3,300 and other main search engines over 1,200).

Thanks for the responses.

My reason for asking this was I was trying to build incoming links to my new site on a forum with high pr.

I guess placing my link on a high pr webpage not listed in google is of no value?

There are other pages on this site that have lower pr, but are listed on google and the cache shows that the page was spidered recently, so the hope is it will be spidered again.

Well not if it's just one page, but the more, the more it could help.
