Google Image Bot Using Old Image Links

Google image bot has not yet picked up any of my new site's images.

Can anyone give me some help on how to deal with this problem?

I've moved my blog from a site now defunct to a new site in the past 6 wks. The Google text bot has crawled all my text pgs. & is displaying them in searches. But the image bot is still using image links fr. my defunct site and hasn't picked up a single link for the same images at my new site.

I'd think that the image bot would realize they're generating broken links & start looking for them & finding my new site. Can you think of any reason why the bot wouldn't be finding the images?

I do have mod_rewrite rules that are converting my old file links into the proper format for my new blog. I'm not sure whether this should block the bot (esp. since similar rewrite rules are redirecting links to my posts & the bot IS crawling my text files).

I've had no robots.txt file in my installation but created one yesterday which specifically allows all bots to crawl my site. But I don't notice any change in my Google Images referrals. They're all still broken.
