Changing IP Address Before Re-Launch

Here's the background:
My client bought an old site with quite a lot of content which featured on the 1st page for some good keywords. I made a few SEO pages and pushed it #2 in the serps for the keywords and we changed hosts. It has been left for 3 months as the redesign was done, and the whois was changed about a month ago. No sandbox problems so far.

Now a week before we are about the launch the new site, the client is not happy with the hosting site, as the site does not appear sometimes when the server is overloaded. The solution is to change it over to another server. Which will mean yet another ip address change, and just before a large re-design has got me about worried.

I told it is not worth the risk of possible sandboxing, but I was wondering what everyone else thinks.

Surely the loss of a few clients, is the better than risking 6 months of oblivion.

Many others have reported that they have switched IP addresses without a problem.

However, as a basic principle, avoid making multiple large-scale changes at once. If something does go wrong, you won't know what caused it and you could spend a huge amount of time chasing rabbits down long and unproductive tunnels.

I agree with diamondgrl on this one. I did a bunch of changes at once and ended up getting banned. My reinclusion request is now at the stage where it has been forwarded to Google engineers. However, I've already been out of the index a month and I am not sure how much longer I need to wait. So in summary, do one change at a time and space all changes out over a period of weeks to be extra safe.
