I've got to hand it to google, this is smashing - my girlfriend is head of her Geography department at school, and she's just downloaded it - along with their new interactive whiteboards this should make lessons a lot more fun!

Just downloaded GoogleEarth.exe and after installation program asks me for login and password. In title its name says: "Google Earth Plus".

Am I doing something wrong or somebody changed files at Google?

I think you downloaded the "Google Earth Plus" version instead of the "Google Earth" version (which can be found at [desktop.google.com...] )

gedas, it happened to me too. If you had previously downloaded keyhole on free-trial last year or so and had left it or uninstalled, it thinks that you have the license key and ask for username and password. I had to double-guess my password and once i got it, it says the license has expired (it was 7 day trial i think) and asks if you want the free version and then it works. It is kinda a hassle.

i double checked and downloaded it again. it is 100% Earth.exe not EarthPlus.exe and results are the same :-(

yes I tried Keyhole about year ago, but cannot find it in Add/Remove programs right now, so this means that Keyhole was unistalled.

Minute ago installed from same file on another PC, which never had Keyhole installed and everything goes clear. No login, no password.

Seems like question is: How to kill trails of Keyhole on my laptop?

Do you guys think this would put mapquest and yahoo maps out of business? Its really cool how you can follow a path and see exactly how to get to a place with the real roads! It even drives the route for you! This program is a keeper.

Is there anyway that you can get directions based on using a certain highway or backroad though?

I was able to download it. The program is very nice. I had played with the NASA version and this is way better. They obviously just got the NASA program and made improvments.

I've been playing with Google Earth Plus for the last 24 hours and I just love it; this was a smart move on Google's part to make Keyhole Free.

I'm wondering if the photo views get better on close ups when you pay for the professional subscription. I'm happy with the results but when you get out to a location outside a big city, the resolution is blurry.

For example, my mother in-law lives in Ronks, PA, and that's all blurry. Also, Smithville Flats, NY, blurry (I used to go there often,many years ago).

Checket out 1500 Canal Street to see the detail on the Park Plaza Hotel where we had Webmasterworld last week....interesting...I could not quite get all the detail I wanted but it was sorta recognizable now that I've been to New Orleans.

On the other hand, Las Vegas (where we'll be in November) had alot of detai.

My wife was looking at where she last lived in Poland, and she hasen't been back in 30 years (it's like reliving your childhood).

Google Earth downloads temporarily delayed.

I recently visited the web page and saw the above headline. I'm assuming that there were too many downloads or something? Anyone know what's happening exactly? Luckily I downloaded a copy last night... It's a great app, score one for G!

Is it just me or does it take AGES to load any new areas (ie. go to Google Earth Sightseeing - Top 10 Sites and load one of those. It takes 10 minutes to get all the detail they show). My computer kicks ( AMD 3000+, 512 RAM, 64 MB gfx card, 3 MB/s cable) why is it taking so long?

I like the idea but Google maps loaded 100x faster..

The area at Niagara Falls around the Lewsiton-Queenston bridge is all low res green. Is this perhaps a security reason to hide info related to border crossing?

Thanks to MetricsGuru I was able to download and install GoogleEarth.

When I try and log in I receive an error message (...?answer=20717) suggesting that my firewall or other 'malicious' software is blocking access.

I first added GoogleEarth as an exception to the firewall and finally just switched off the firewall all together - neither helped and I still cannot log in.

Is the problem on my PC or is it down to the fact that the site is temperorily closed? Can others still use GoogleEarth?

I'm still playing around with it. I love it. Just wish I had broadband so the images would download quicker (I'm still on 56k due to being in a rural area).

Has anyone got Pro or Pro Plus? Are they any better?

I logged back into Google Earth and not having the problem that some are reporting.

Yes you definitely need to be on broadband, I tried it on a 3/mbps and a 6/mbps connection and the difference was enormous with the 3/mbps connection making me want to give up at times.

But it is an amazing tool, I went to one place I thought was on the East Coast of the US only to find it is actually on the West- duh!

I do have serious concerns though what this could do to search (re my sites/SERPS) in the future though, because it is a lot more fun than using G's regular search.

Albeit a rare combination but....

Starting GEarth with WinTV2000 running locks up my WinXP Pro PC. Repeatable - have to hard reset to recover. Could be WinTV, GEarth, problem with conflicting GDI calls, or just my bad luck.

...or maybe it's the phone cops

Wow this is awesome. Just visited the Pyramids in Gizeh, Versailles, the Vesuv, the forbidden City in Beijing and so many other places.

Makes me wanna shutdown my computer pack my things and just travel there myself.

And for the next holidays I'll check before I book if the hotel is really as close to the beach as the catalogue says.

First time it worked until i began diving closer to somewhere ... freeze! Second time it freezed during launch. - hard reset necessary. Win 2000, no other apps running.
