I've had a site up and running for 4 months now, and just recently (this month) have been getting inbound links of quality. I have several PR5s and many PR4s amongst other smaller ranks.
Yet, I'm at the dreaded PR0. However, G does not show any backlinks for my site (via link:www.example.com search).
Does this have the makings of a ban (for which I wouldn't understand why) or is it just that G hasn't found any of my links worth while.
Oh, also, a search for just my domainname (without www or com) comes up with all my pages and those pages linked to me.
Thanks for the help!

Sorry, no information is available for the URL example.com
then it means you could be banned.
My site is about 4 months old as well - many of the links are good quality from places like dmoz and Yahoo, as well as a few from related sites that come up well in the serps.
But still PR0...
BTW: I currently come up on page 8 for my main search term. Despite this, a few pages that simply link to my page (and are otherwise completely unrelated - such as a regional business directory) come up on page 1 and 2.
One way you can test it out is search for just your domain name in Google, without the .com/.net/.whatever. So for example, if you owned example.com, you'd search for "example". Assuming that your domain name is a relatively unique word/brand, you should be the first result of that search. If you are not, you were probably penalized.
