Using Google Plus posts to speed up link clean up

Hi,

I have recently discovered about 70 or so toxic links to 3 pages on a website I work on, and have made the those 3 pages into 410 pages.

This will obviously take care of the problem once they are re-crawled bu Googlebot, but I was wondering if anybody had any thoughts, or experience, with posting the toxic inbound links to Google plus to get the bot to recrawl them sooner rather than later?

Many thanks,

Tom.

Why not submit a disavow list to Google?

Hi Goodroi,

Submitting a disavow file doesn't send the bot to the pages, so you have to wait up to 6 months before the links are re-crawled and dropped from Google's backlink profile of your site.

And as they are 404, they don't even need to be in your disavow file.

So the question is, has anybody used Google Plus to speed up the re-indexing of toxic links and seen it to be effective?

Many thanks,

Tom.

I don't know the full details of your situation but from the little bit you have mentioned I think there might be a chance you are spending too much time on a minor issue. Has Google informed you of bad links to your website? If Google hasn't specifically notified you about bad links then you might want to look elsewhere to boost your rankings.

Many people that are dealing with negative linking problems are dealing with hundreds and thousands of bad links not 70 links. Personally if I had the time to focus on 70 links and how to trigger Google to recrawl them faster, I would rather spend that time on building new links that passed value and traffic to my site. Again I don't know your full situation so this might not be the best advice for it. Just be careful that you are making the most impact of your limited time and budget :)

Hi Goodroi,

It's good advice, but actually the whole point of the question is how to speed things up, and reduce time wasted.

Still be interested to hear from anybody who has done this and seen benefits, or negatives?

Thanks,

Tom.
