Hello Team,

I have my domain name hosted on http location.

Last year I have posted my disavow file for my http domain name.

After that I move my domain name to https location. Now my all traffic is on https location.

I also do permanent redirect on http domain name and transfer that to https domain name.

Now I want to update my disavow file and here are my questions.

1. Can I use same file I have for http domain and append few more links and domains on same file and upload that file to https webmaster tools section?

2. Or should I leave http disavow file as it is and I start with new file and only include domains / links I want to execute from google for https domain?

My confusion is if I follow # 2 option than it will not discard my old blocks domains and link and just consider new files as my latest file for http and https sites?

At this time I only have http site but google webmaster tools is considering http and https site differently in listing.

Please suggest.

Thank you

1. Yes, you should, especially if you are redirecting http to https (which is what you should be doing)

2. I would have the same file on both, http and https.

I would have the same file on both, http and https.

But shouldn't the new links that the site has acquired since the transfer to https only be included on that disavow list? In other words, both disavow files would include the old backlinks, but only the disavow file for the https version would also include the new backlinks.

In principle yes, you could have two files with the content exactly as aristotle said.

But I think it would not harm having the same file, and to me it would be easier to maintain it this way.
