Google seems to have done something to hit the amazon affiliates.

I was running an amazon affiliate script that was changed to make it crawlable. THat was the only change. It was fully indexed and added to the supplemental index soon after being installed.

No referrals for it for ages and I deleted it over 5 monthes ago.

Now in the last week I am seeing toms of direct referrals to products. Which leads me to believe that Google has taken some sort of action against the amazon affiliate store type sites that pushed my non existent store up in rankings.

But what?

I'm getting even more now. Is any one else seeing something like this?

A little off topic, but I have seen cases of pages that are either deleted (result in http 404) or moved (result inhttp 301) that Google has not responded to for many, many months ... and Google is the good case. I still have moved URLs from two years ago that get traffic from other SE's :-)

Anyway, I am not sure I understand your case.

Could the opposite case than you suggest be occurring? Could it be that these pages that were indexed are finally getting in the SERPs? The latest Google update seems to have been a rather thorough housecleaning which has affected a number of sites in a number of ways.

And, whatever the cause, perhaps now would be a great time to put some content you can make money from behind those (un)dead URLs!

As far as the reason I am not sure. They are still listed as supplemental as they always have been. So its not a case of the pages being improved the only explanation ( I can think of ) is that my pages are some how less bad than other amazon store pages.

Yeah I am going to have to see if i can remake the content.

Google did add a load of old URLs back into the index at the beginning of the latest update, and then removed most of them a few days ago.

I think perhaps they wanted to respidered them to see what their status was - redirect elsewhere, 404, or real content.
