Google Cache Versus Search Snippets

How long does it take for google to update it's actual search query snippet?

When I type in www.example.com I see a version of my page that has been up last Saturday May 14, 2005. But google has a cache since today, May 17, 2005.

How long does it take to update the snippet to a more recent version?

I am asking because on the 15th of May I created a rotation script that on a daily basis rotates

1) Text copy
2) Image
3) Header title H!
4) some links

I am basically doing a daily HOT PRODUCT rotation.

I did this to make my site seem fresher and get google to come back. It is also good for business. This shouldn't be a problem should it?

The products have similiar H1 titles and descriptions but have different links and images. They are basically unique content that is changing ONCE a day.

I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some kind of penalty for changing your content everyday in an offensive way, which I don't think this is.

I also have a follow up question? As a general rule is it okay to rotate copy? I've read on webmaster world that it is generally a good thing. Or can there be penalties for doing this?

There surely is no penalty for these practices, I fail to see why there should be...

However, try to at least make it possible to find more of the info elsewhere on your site, or you might just end up with confused visitors (hitting the back button).
