This is now an old topic but still this is very surprizing to everybody even webmaster or any other site developer. That sites are having only urls listedc in google indexing. Now half urls are there in google listing while searching for a domain through site search. Dont know what this is happening. Is anything wrong with google or somewhere we are doing mistakes in site development & SEO thing.

My all links were from the same sites are few from other sites but not mine and are good quality back links they are. The site is only informational sites and having few links aprox 20 on a single page with sufficient content. Does google wants 1 sites should belongs to 1 person in the world else they would not accept in google. Also i have the different details in the domaiaan registrations as well as hosted on a different server with no intralinking to the other sites of mine.
I dont understand what google wants.

Am i only having this problem..?
site:my-site.comsearch there are 12 with link + desc and all the rest (88) are url-only. It has been like that since Dec 04. Google traffic has plummeted. I have always ignored requests to exchange links. Perhaps that was my mistake?
I had the same problem, I changed the path to the pages i.e. folder/page.htm => folder/page.html and Google reindexed them right away (though I dropped out of Yahoo and lost all backlinks pointing at the old pages so it's definately not a great option.)

But still sites are there and running fine.

So what have I learned? Well it was good that I have sorted these potential "duplicate" issues but whether or not they were/are the problem I cannot say. If Google decides to settle on the full listings then yes I guess I will attribute these changes to my changes but I am not entirely convinced. If nothing else changes then tbh I'm really not sure were to go next as I cannot see a reason for this happening.
The problem with Google is not knowing what it is doing at any one time. It certainly doesn't appear to update as quick as a couple of years back which makes it harder to see where in the cycle you may be i.e. you make a change, how long will it take to see the effect... a few days, weeks or even months?!
Currently the .com site has reverted back to mostly urls but then the .co.uk site also has some pages listed which is the inherent problem. I have noticed that whenever the full .com site is listed there are no .co.uk pages within the index so it would seem reasonable to suggest that the 301 redirect on the .co.uk is having the desired effect in as much as there is no duplicate content therefore the .com is displayed. The confusing aspect is why would Google prefer the .co.uk domain (i.e. newer domain) and why is it in constant flux i.e. one minute in... the other out?!
