Does IP Change Affects Page Rank?

I am getting my site hosted on some other server which will surely change the IP address of my site

Will this also result in the loss of my Page Rank?

No, it shouldn't be a problem, not in my experience anyway.

I had an incident back to a year ago when one of my sites had a PR6 instead of its actual PR5. When I searched for my site backlinks I found most of the links link to another website that was down for a long period and has an IP on the same class C block of my website. When the other website was up again, mine went back to its PR5. This maybe a temporary fault in Google, but it gave me the feeling that backlinks (and accordingly PR) has a direct relation with IPs.

This sounds more like a shared IP situation. If that is so you should get a dedicated IP address.

I moved 5 sites 4 months ago all held the same PR after the last update

We moved our main authority site (PR6) 2 times (on different C-block IPs) within the last two months and nothing changed by Google.

I suggest that you do NOT shut down the older hosting package until 15 or more days have passed from the transfer date to your new hosting provider. It will probably help Google to keep all of your pages in the index for sure.

I guess that changing IP is not the problem.

But when you move to a different Hosting company, the dns server change is the problem.

No, it's a dedicated IP on a dedicated machine.

In our experience, chaging IP's doesnt hurt rankings. I am still a FIRM believer, however, that you should have a hosting package with a dedicated IP. I am sure 200 people will say its not necessary, but there are many providers that give static IP's for same price as virtual hosts - pick one of those!

I moved my sites to a different hosting company in a different part of the world with NO problems

I moved my main site to another IP five months ago and didn't loose PR or Google traffic.
