Hi all,

My site and all of its pages are indexed in google. For example, when you search example.com all of the subpages as well as the main page will come up, BUT only some show a description. They all have metatags and content on the site but about half are showing up with the metatag description and half are showing up with no description. About a week ago all were showing with a description. Why would this be? What can I do? Thanks

This can sometines happen when Google knows the page exists, but has not yet crawled the page. It may know the page exists because it has found a link from one of your other pages leading to it. In this case Google may use the anchor text as your title in the results page.

its quite strange because they had descriptions but then all of a sudden lost them. Is there anything I can do to make sure google continues to crawl those pages? How long does this normally take. Thanks again.

I have notice something simular when searching for links to my site ... pages showing up without the descriptions from site wide link exchanges (as well as other sources) (first look most of the pages are dynamic and don't have a last modified http header - but that may be related to my sample / not google), and the only referance to the keyword is on page content.

If you have google toolbar installed you can click the page and ask for the google cache of the page ... if the cache shows the page i would not worry about anything different on your site ... just a very strange PR update this cycle ... Lets hope it is not a trustrank test if overall traffic is down.
