I am new to web development and currently have two sites. www.soldbychris.net which I have been aggressively building links and adding content to improve my placement. The site is rough and I am still working on improving its content. It has a page rank of 4 but I cannot find it anywhere with my keywords in a google search (Indianapolis real estate or Indianapolis realtor). It is also listed in the google directory and places 4th under Indianapolis realtors. I have managed to gain the top 10 in yahoo and msn, and hit #1 on several occasions. Is there anyway to tell if my site is black listed or blocked from showing decent results during a search in google.

And I did join a link farm when I first started but since pulled all references of my site and requested my links removed after reading google penalizes you (linkstoyou).

Any feedback would be appreciated

Chris

There is really no way to know for sure if a web site is blacklisted. First thing to look at to see if you are backlisted is by looking at your PR (since you said you have PR, you can skip this), just because you have 0 PR does not necessarily mean you are penalized. Next, did you have any rankings that have now disappeared?

It could be that you don't have enough links to your web site to get the ranking you want. On MSN you can get a good ranking much easier than on Google and on Yahoo!, they are different in many ways from Google, so just because you have a top ten ranking on them doesn't mean you will get the same on Google.

You also said you are aggressively building links, if you build links to fast you could get filtered or blacklisted.

Hi,

I would add that the only PR hasn't any meant.
You could have also PR 8-9 but if you target wrong keywords and if your pages are not adequately optimized this is absolutely unuseful.Your page willn't be displayed in the SERP!
Review carefully your pages and optimize them for the keyword you wish.
Another thing: The fact that you're listed in the Google directory and the ranking you've in there is completely insignificant for your SERP ranking.
