We are # 1 for a 2 keyword terms that recieves @ 6700 impressions per month (from adwords). We purchase the # 1 adword spot as well as have the #1 listing.
Our natural listing recieves 1550 clicks per month and our adword @ 870 for a total of 2420 - assuming if we didnt have the #1 adword, we should then get @ 36% CTR. What I dont understand is how only 1/3 of the searchers would click on the #1 position. Where are all these people clicking?
Anyone have any relative data?

Last time I looked, you couldn't "purchase the #1 adwords spot."
Given that you didn't know that already, I will ask a silly question. How can you be sure that this term is viewed 6,700 times per month? What term are you bidding on?

It makes a difference... especially if you are relying on the 6,700 number in your calculation.
That being said, a 13% CTR on your adwords ad is just about as good as I have ever gotten. When I've gotten in the mid teens, I am usually able to hold the #1 or #2 spot.
Why are you wondering where "all the rest go"?
Does everybody call the first listing in the yellow pages when they look for something there? Do most people go in the first store they see when they go shopping?
Why would the internet be any different? People will always be people.
