Google snuggles up to Open Source Community with new dedicated subsite - or - Google looking to replace Source Forge?
I would venture to say that if they were looking to replace source forge, all of their projects wouldn't have been placed up on source forge. I see no evidence for this argument.
On another note, the projects that they are releasing are just performance (either code or coding) enhancers, no applications. Not exactly surprising, but I don't know how big of an audience they will find this interesting.
Personally, I find that the hashtable may be of some marginal use at some point, and goopy is also marginally useful, but doesn't include anything that most python programmers couldn't write in a few minutes anyway.
I'm hoping that there is a plan for more code to be released, otherwise this doesn't really impress me much.
