Allegra terminated?

I had few sites ( innocent sites, not using any spam tricks...) penalized with Allegra and today it seems that they are ranking fine as before Allegra.

Maybe Google trimmered some filters to not penalize innocent sites!

You are right. A few site have reappeared. Not on the same position but yes they're back in SERPS.I saw this happen 4-5 days back. I can still sew 2-3 different sets of fluctuating results.

I'm still seeing the 2 distinct sets of results that Allegra introduced. During mid-Feb, I saw the pre-Allegra results set shrink down to <4 datacenters, and the results stopped changing for a while, but they never went away. Now I'm seeing pre-Allegra, post-Allegra, and what seems to be post-post-Allegra. Post-post seems a "fresh" version of pre, based on the ordering of some sites in the results. Querying www.google.com (akadns) seems to show result sets from post and post-post.

Pre-allegra one of my sites was #3
Post-allegra, it dropped to #400
Post-post allegra, it's #1
Note: The cached pages from all 3 sets are recent, just the positions are markedly different.

The results haven't settled down yet, so I'm inclined to say "The Dance" is still on, and the fat^H^H^H calorically gifted lady has not yet sung. The big swing does lead me to believe that whatever happened in Allegra may have been axed in this current update.

Some times they show, sometimes not.

I don't know what they are doing. I think that they are conscious that they are penalizing innocent, good sites. It seems to me that they are triggering one of the filter.

I don't know if its shifting data-centers or something else.
My one site is bouncing back and forth like a tennis ball.
Full cycle is something like a day, i.e. half a day on page two,
half a day or so on page three.

Neither position is that bad in a field of over 10 million pages,
but it makes me a little dizzy.

There just seem to be two sets of data.
I can look at page one and tell if I'm to be found on page 2 or 3.
Whenever KWK (the keyword stuffing king) is in slot #1, I'm on page 2.
If KWK falls to the second slot, I'm on page 3. -Larry

We've noticed something similar too on one of our smaller sites.

The site is essentially a "gift" site that has all types of gifts but we predominantly sell gifts on behalf of one supplier.

Due perhaps to our laziness, we never bothered to change the descriptions of these gifts from the description supplied by our suppliers.

This lead, i believe, to us tripping the duplicate content filter in allegra.

This has had the following effect on our weekly google referals:

Pre-Allegra: 1050
Just after Allegra: 50
Now: 250

We have not changed the site at all during this time.

I hope this info helps someone somewhere. It certainly helped us decide not to bother selling gifts anymore.

My site is getting the pre-allegra place slowly. Day after day I'm slowly getting back to my pre-allegra traffic rate. I guess that more data centers are getting new post-post-allegra index every day. This dance began about 4-5 days ago. The new index is some kind of mix of pre and post allegra. I hope that I finely get the steady place in the new index.
