deferent DC's deferent results

is google dancing between 2 indexes?

I have noticed the past few days an oddity, the index of google.com as well with many others ,like co.uk,.de .fr com.au ech.,every few hours gives the results of the 2nd of February when alegra started and then changes to the 5th of February results the second minor alegra results.
if you check (i took randomly 3+3 DC's) you will see that if you make a search for he letter a you get this

66.102.7.104
66.102.11.104
kw:a=2,860,000,000 results

the first are the results of the 2nd of February
the second are the results of the 5th of February
the oddity is that how is possible you get 8000000000 results for the letter a when google indexes 8000000000 pages
question: What about the billions of pages written in Chinese ,Arabic ,Hebrew ech. where the letter a does not exists.
Any thoughts about it?

I am seeing the amount of pages listed being changed every 8 hours or so, going from the normal amount to double even more sometimes and then back to the normal amount

traffic is not being affected just the amount of pages indexed is changing

the serp for Roe v Wade was the target of a recent googlebomb campagn:

on 64.233.179.104 a search for
link:http://www.tourolaw.edu/patch/Roe/ (the target of the gbomb links) shows 879 links, meaning that this is the newer set of link informations.

on 216.239.53.104 it shows 34

on google.com 879 links

on both the DC's mentioned, allegra-dissapeared sites are
shown, they're not on google.com (As far as i can see)

i think they are comparing the allegra page sets and the pre allegrea page sets with the new link information, perhaps looking at the effects of a few new knobs?

also on 216...104 a domain that was sandboxed which i accidentally let expire (was not deleted) is not showing for a search on its name, on 64...104 it is showing.

I agree this is what is important, but by trying to discern what DC has the newest information on it we can get a hint of what will stick.

I have checked alot of DC's ut in my oppinion the most datacenters still show really strange results. Ok, sometimes some good sites are up but I can still see pagerank 0 sites, sites with guestbook links and blogs counted, and subsites like [widget.widgetsonline.com...] which rank #1 or #2 for a very competitive keyword.

Google is not back and they show not the same good results as they have showed until december 16th but I hope they will fix their algo soon. :)

I've checked several factors, updated pages, index size and link information, this is not just an old index.

the most telling peice of information to support my claim is that on that DC pages that used to rank high and contained nothing but a redirect are not ranking as high anymore.

Can you tell me when this happened in the "old index"?

the most importent to my theory is that all those DC,s like 64.233.179.104 are giving Results 1 - 10 of about 3,960,000,000 for a ,that is more real then the unreal Results 1 - 10 of about 8,000,000,000 for a that gives the .com

Hi,

Pre alegra i had 991 links showing. After the update they reduced to 881 links.

A few days ago my links had gone up to 1140. On some data centres i show as 1140 and on others 881. What is funny is that i have over 5000 links its just that Google doesnt list them all.

Anyway, my point is i agree that we currently have two sets of data but what i would say is that the one set cant be just old pre alegra data becasue if it was my back links would be showing as pre the update on these data centres ie 991 links not 1140 links.

How long this will go on for is anyones guess

I am seeing a much different set of results on google.com right now (66.227.14.90). This is a set that never made it to the big time before.

This is the first set that actually recognizes all my pages correctly. The non duplicate pages went from 450 to 780, pretty much the actual number of non duplicate pages.

My results are also varying to a great extent. I opened 2 browsers one is firefox and other IE and its showing up two different IP's ie 216.239.63.104 and 216.239.57.104 simulataneously with different results and total number of sites competing for that phrase also varies.
Its really strange.Is that happening with anyone else?
As per my knowledge, this is because of backlink updation. Any reviews and analysis are welcome.

Still the case.

One set of data centres has us down with 881 links the other set of data centres 1140 links.

Most odd. Cant tell what it wants to do.

Also, our position in the directory has gone up the list - cant tell if the two under us will be down graded in PR or if we are about to go up in PR

4 sets of results each one nothing like the other, some with updated backlinks, some with updated SERPS, its a real mix up.
