I have been having problems with being listed in Google News.

Was listed fine up to about last October - then dead.

Loads of (polite) e-mails and no solution.

BUT!

I have (I think) solved the problem :)

It would appear that Google News has a problem with pages that contain too many news links.

It was around last October time that I signed up with an additional news source, and the daily news quota went from an average of 8 stories to 16 stories per day.

The front page always showed headlines and an opening paragraph from two days worth of news - so the front page jumped from an average of 16 links to an average of 32 links (in addition to normal navigation links etc.).

A lot of experimenting would not fix this - until a bug occured where the previous days news did not appear on the front page, bringing the link count back down to about 15 - and LO! we reappeared in Google News.

I have run several checks - and it does seem to work - if I have too many links on the front page, we cease to appear in Google News, but remove some links, and we suddenly reappear - often within as little as half an hour.

Now to work out the exact link count limit.

But I thought I would post this sucess story here in case anyone else is having similar issues.
