Google needs volunteers to translate

Google is asking for volunteers to translate their help pages and to boot on the bottom of the page links to a high PR site that sells text rich links. Anyone else here get a link from Google? Do you think the volunteers might get a link or boost in return for the favor ;)

Looks like google is taking part in some form of off topic link exchange program aimed at boosting PR.

I like it, if you don't have the money to pay for something try asking someone to volunteer or bartering!
Have Google spent their billions already!?

A few year ago I sent translation errors to Google. It took them almost one year to implement. It seems to be a higher priority issue now.

Nevertheless nice to read that some small language groups have very active Google users. The Frisian language is spoken by only 500,000 people and I guess less than 1% of them will ever try Google in this language because they all speak fluently Dutch too, but still the translation percentage for this language is higher than Dutch.

It is my experience--speaking 6 languages and currently learning my seventh--that especially in minority language groups there will be a large number of people willing to translate Google for their own community. Please keep in mind that Google search is a free service and in many countries people do not speak English. So helping to translate is just an alternative way to pay for this free search service and open the door to the rest of the world. You and your community will benefit from it immediately.

Do you think maybe once they accept the work they pay a consulting fee? Seems only fair.

The last time I sent translation corrections I only received a canned "Thank you" response :( But maybe they increased my pagerank without telling me ;)

Wunderground is selling text links for some time. I wonder if those links counts. This means that Google does not chare about selling text link ads?

Last time I looked "English (UK)" had a very low % rating the amount of work done.

Less than 10% if I recall. Uh? Me no understand.
