So can anybody please just explain what is Allegra Update? No chain of comments on guesses please, just precisely what it is and major effects, I think it will also benefit others here.
The results of that change are now being seen by the users of the Google search engine and the folks who track their traffic.
These changes could have been to:
1: ranking algo
2: number of pages in the system (that always changes)
3: relevance algos
4: filter algos
Does anyone know for absolute certainty what changed?
Yes the folks at Google.
Someone outside of Google might if they are really good at black box analysis.
How do we know a change has happened?
1: Records of SERPS for keywords.
2: Webserver logs.
3: Google addicts monitor certain SERP accross the major Google datacenters watching for the new index and
other changes to propagate through Googles collection of systems.
4: Major changes in adsense revenue.
5: Major changes in ad impressions if your site sells ads.
6: Major changes in sales if your site sells something.
Anything else you want to know?
Oh the update name was picked out of thin air by the fine folk who bring you Webmaster World.com .
The next one may be named after a holiday one never knows.
I haven't been able to tell if it was Jan or Feb, let alone what day it might have been.
Thanks.
