Unique Standalone IP

How relevent is it now?

With so many updates and changes in Google Algo, is it stil better to go with unique standalone IP or virtual works equivalent?

I tested some top 7 sites for a particular keyphrase, and saw that all sites were hosted on virtual servers. None of them was on Unique IP

What do you all think?

I would suggest keeping the site on a separate IP from the other websites that LINK to it. I think this time around they (G) turned up the value of the filter that reduces the impact of interlinking websites hosted under the same IP. (hit me hard)

What gets hit:
- sites on the same IP linking to each other
- site on a UNIQUE IP that is linked ONLY from sites with the same IP

After the last update my websites show ~same backlinks same toolbar PR but are not in the top ten for the main keywords like they were the last 2 years. Even [ domain-name.com ] search does not return the corresponding domain in top SERPs.

My domain names matches the main KEYWORD1-KEYWORD2.COM that they are targeting and this downfall happened only to the ones hosted on the same IP - so better play it safe!

Also check what you can see on these Google Data Centers for differing SERP results!

NOTE: Can anyone suggest if these G Data Centers are the PAST the FUTURE or just an alternate reality?

Can anybody else confrim if Google is discounting links from sites on same IP? It seems that this is happening from what I have seen, but i want to see of others have seen this.

Yes, without a shadow of a doubt, the IP is important. It is best to have sites not only on their own IP but in different blocks. There is no need to have a unique IP however, if it is shared with other people's sites, or unrelated/linked sites then it's no problem at all. In fact, if I were Google, I would think well of it.

Would moving domains out of the SAME IP SHADOW help them regain the position or could it be that they will carry some black mark for a long time?

Toolbar PR and Backlinks do not seem to be effected.
