Site:www.url.com verus site:www.url.com

I have just noticed that the capitalisation of Site in
Site:www.url.com brings back vastly different results to site:www.url.com. Anyone have any clue as to why and what it is?

It looks like with the capital S it is just doing a normal search.

On a similar theme:
can anyone get me upto speed on why

site:www.mydomain.com

returns different results to

site:mydomain.com

Just to add a little extra:-

there are no subdomain results returned and both queries return results as www.

I notice that there are supplemental pages included in the site:mydomain.com but not in the site:www.

Why should there be a difference between them?

I would guess that it only treats the "www" as another subdomain (which it is, strictly speaking), the sanme way you can search for site:subdomain.domain.com/

Make sure you use a 301 redirect to push all domain.com traffic over to www.domain.com instead.
