How to get rid of a duplicate content filter?

Hi,
Since December my site used to rank in top 10 in Google for a highly [competitive] keyword. Its an affiliate site but it have good links and good content.
In December it went to page 6. When I do a search with filter=0 I am seeing my site again in the top 10 SEPR. I think that it was penalized by a dup content filter.
Being an affiliate site some of the text its taken from my affiliate. Now I am rewrite it. Also lots of other sites have copied my original content.

What can I do to bring it back?

Definitely rewrite all the content to make it unique, than run your pages through copyscape.

Work on more IBL's to get your site spidered more frequently and increase your link pop. Eventually G may rank your pages again. If not, get a new domain name and move all the content over - but be prepared to be sandboxed.

I've had sites get hit for dupe content and was able to successfully pull them back to the top, so I feel your pain.

There is more you can do to increase the "appropriateness" of your site for it's category, such as making sure your site structure and navigation is conducive to ranking well for your terms. Feel free to sticky me your URL and I'll give it a once-over for you if you like.

Does the filter=0 help you with all the pages or just the front page?

The filter seems to help me only with the front page. The whole site was built only to rank for one keyword and only the main page.
With the filter=0 I get other top 10 SEPR for terms like widget testimonials, cheap widget. Still I think that the filter only helps me for the first page – index.html.

Does it matters?
Any advice its highly appreciated.

How can I do "do a search with filter=0"?

I have one site, their main term were ranked before 10, but now I can't find them at all, I suppose, they are filtered by dup content too.

Hi Flatware: Welcome to the big leagues.

I just tried something that might work for you:
I googled up a single keyword, and found my main (index) page on page 3 of results.
I looked up at the address bar, found www.google.com/yaddayadda ...
and way at the end it had something like &safe=images

I edited that out and replaced it with &filter=0 (that's a ZERO).
I hit the Enter key. MY site stayed in the same exact slot!

I take this to mean I have no filter type penalties or whatever.
Anyone: Is that a realistic assumption?

What I DID see were other sites shifted places, but not by much.
I'd like to know if that indicates anything as well. - Larry

Its normal for pages to drop few positions with a filter=0 search. Google restricts the no. of results from a site to 2 pages indented and with a filter=0, that restriction is gone.

Hi,
I have your same problem, I used to rank very well for many keyword, in 2 different languages, I have affiliate links on my site, but with unique contents around them. Now I disappeared from the top SERPS (I rank usually from 200 to 300 position), for both sites. If I put filter=0 for for the keyword that I positioned my home page, I have my site back!
GoogleBot anyway continue to spider me every day, at least 30 pages per day.

The filter=0 works only for the homepage. Now I am trying to increase my back links, I think is my last hope.

I am sorry to hear this. I hope that Google will resolve this problem. The filter=0 show the same SEPR for my keyword only that my site is there in the first 10.
Googleboot is also hitting my site almost on daily bases. One strange thing: some of my internal pages have a 30 Dec 2004 cache. I think that its strange because Googleboot visits me almost daily like I’ve sad.
If you fix this problem please let me know. I stopped getting more links to this site because I really do not know what Google will do next.

I think the dup content maybe hit my rank?
