Work on more IBL's to get your site spidered more frequently and increase your link pop. Eventually G may rank your pages again. If not, get a new domain name and move all the content over - but be prepared to be sandboxed.
I've had sites get hit for dupe content and was able to successfully pull them back to the top, so I feel your pain.
There is more you can do to increase the "appropriateness" of your site for it's category, such as making sure your site structure and navigation is conducive to ranking well for your terms. Feel free to sticky me your URL and I'll give it a once-over for you if you like.

I just tried something that might work for you:
I googled up a single keyword, and found my main (index) page on page 3 of results.
I looked up at the address bar, found www.google.com/yaddayadda ...
and way at the end it had something like &safe=images
I edited that out and replaced it with &filter=0 (that's a ZERO).
I hit the Enter key. MY site stayed in the same exact slot!
I take this to mean I have no filter type penalties or whatever.
Anyone: Is that a realistic assumption?
What I DID see were other sites shifted places, but not by much.
I'd like to know if that indicates anything as well. - Larry
The filter=0 works only for the homepage. Now I am trying to increase my back links, I think is my last hope.

I use it by the following method:
[google.com...]
