From: [gmail.google.com...]

To help save you time, Gmail automatically archives messages that you send.

Is there anyway to undo this?

Moving the email to the Inbox using "More actions..." > "Move to Inbox" works for me.

No, currently there is no way to change this behavior. I'm speculating here, but I believe that this is part of Gmail's strategy for providing you a "more complete" email service. This lets Gmail match replies to the corresponding sent messages enabling the creation of "Conversations" letting you see the history of an email conversation in a simple, organized manner. You can always delete any messages you sent.

Despite what pundits may say, you can ALWAYS delete ANY message you either send or receive. Gmail does NOT retain your messages in any clandestine way. Yes, they do keep backups, but so does every other major Web-based email service.
