I know it is beta, but just an observation - I am receiving most of my spam in the inbox vs the spam folder.

Is anyone seeing an increase in this lately?

I had 1 SPAM email ever though I posted the email on the web at some places. But this 1 email wasn't in SPAM, was in my Inbox. I got the same email to another account and it was detected as SPAM. But maybe they need more emails to learn and improve

I've only had 1 spam and I didn't even know it till I clicked on the spam folder.

I am forwarding my oldest (and most spammed) email address to my Gmail account. Maybe it has something to do with that?

The filter is missing *obvious* p@rn and adult terms that are not typos or anything tricky.

As a side note... One of the ads on an email was for one of *my* sites. It was a long forgotten, lightly used adwords account. I was only spending ~$10 per week on it so I did not notice it hitting my card. As I don't sell anything on the site any longer it was a nice find. Thanks Gmail!

i get about 30 messages per day. about 20 of them is spam. about 5 of those 20 end up in spam folder, rest of them in Inbox. Beside this, about 2 messages that are not spam end up in spam folder. I tried to "train" it, i already marked some 700 messages as spam and also lot of false positives as "not spam" with almost no effect. Even if i mark something as "not spam", next day i get the message with similar content from the same person and it ends up in spam folder again :(

i get the same mail into my thunderbird mail cliend which uses bayesian spam filter. this one is also trained (for longer period though) and it can cope with spam much better. Even if i sometimes get some spam into my inbox, i have almost no false positives unlike in gmail.

OK. My Gmail account is getting really, really, really bad. Simple Outlook rules block more spam than Gmail.

Everything gets through. There is no need for spammers to misspell terms - just send the full monty... It will get to me.

Yes, I know it is beta and free, but c'mon - at least an effort should be made to block the obvious phrases. My frustration today was sparked by my 6 year old reading aloud the F*** bomb and P**** before I could send the spam to the spam folder.

The spam folder needs an empty button... same with the trash folder.
