Google has said it'll stop scanning individual's gmail messages for ad personalization, and has said it'll do that before the end of the year.
This, it says, is to bring it in line with GSuite and educational apps, which don't scan for ad personalization.

That's good news, of course, however, it's only said it'll stop for that reason, but it doesn't confirm it'll stop for any other reasons. In fact, for Google to offer smart reply feature it's still going to have to scan your e-mail.

Scanning? I got a message in their search engine in the feed telling me I had a message in my gmail about a recent purchase. That requires a heck of a lot more than scanning. Google not spying and selling our info is like say the sky said it is not going to rain anymore.
