Google's Smart Reply in Gmail takes away some of the personalisation about a response to a question by suggesting up to three potential responses. It saves typing, for sure, and does allow for personalisation, so i'm sure it'll help those hard pressed people on the go.

I don't understand why they do stuff like this. They already have a lot of people on their back worried about privacy, so instead of assuring us that our emails are all private, they go and create a program that writes the replies!
I know its all done by computer and not a human, but a lot of people won't see the distinction

I'm sure it's meant for people on-the-go, and not for desktop users.

I think i'd rather get a personal reply that follows a little later, rather than a canned reply.
