Does Gmail capture IP address

in header of a draft?

I'm not going to go into details, but someone used a gmail account of mine and began creating an email but stopped when I caught them doing it. Without asking for people to become all lawyerly (which would be against charter) I just want to know if Gmail captures the IP address of the computer that the draft originated from? Is there any way to get this information otherwise?

I know they do, but of course, they will not release that info with a warrant or court order.

They have made a case of this before where they hide the person's IP in the outgoing messages sent from a gmail account (unlike other services such as hotmail, yahoo mail, etc).

Go to the bottom of your inbox.

You will see:
Last account activity: 1 minute ago at this IP (#*$!.#*$!.#*$!). Details

Just click on details to see the last 5 or so IP's on your account.

Thanks TI for that info, it may come in handy in the future should this happen again.

Unfortunately it has been too long and only shows my IP address for the last 5 times.
