Google / AOL Email Collaberation

Heard this on the news this AM

This morning on the news they did a technology "Breaking News" piece, that AOL's AIM has been integrated into Gmail. Is that awesome or what?

Is this a bigger move for Google to get into the Media Industry?

It's nice that they're making their platform more compatible with other IM apps, but as an IM user I prefer my stand-alone software for this.
