What I've noticed is that more and more people are distributing their email address in the from: field and in day-to-day conversation, over the telephone etc. as firstname.lastname. Have other people noticed this too?
A welcome side effect of firstname.lastname being an alias for firstnamelastname with gmail is that people no longer have to worry about losing mail or managing two inboxes so are more comfortable giving out the "dotted" email addy.
In my opinion it looks more professional and when dealing with unusual names is great for discerning where someone's first name ends and surname begins!
