Brainwave: Froogle and the Toolbar

This suddenly struck me - the reason Google's been re-pushing the toolbar, including the new version with popup stopper etc. is just to ready the waters for including Froogle support.

The Froogle in the toolbar has certainly got immense potential to take over most comparison shopping sites etc.

Actually, that's a good idea!

It's surprising to me that there already isn't an option for this in the pulldown menu of search areas on the toolbar. Hmm.

Given the fact that those pernicious comparison sites are such a big part of the AdWords scene anyways, I don't think Froogle will displace them (if anything, Froogle may bless these pus boils with MORE traffic). Since they're paying per click, however, Google WILL get a slice of the pie no matter which way it is sliced (whether through omnibus DealSites, intrepid Amazon Associates, or something else entirely), which is likely the reason for instituting Froogle all along. :)
