When did the product listings on Google become

links direct to the merchant?

Are these still listings from Froogle or are they sponsored listings. No other ads appear and they aren't annotated as being ads, just "Product search results".

It has been this way for quite a while. The top link goes to Froogle and the other three go direct to merchants.

Hmm...I seem to remmeber them going to Froogle listings. Maybe it's me. I still think it's a terrible thing to do to adsense advertisers. Oh well.

I'm not sure I understand, and maybe I'm not alone. How do links to Froogle merchants hurt AdSense?

You weren't alone mquarles. I think what HM is referring to is the regular Google SERPs.

If you search for something that can be identified as a product "Product search results for this widget" pop up with a link to froogle. Under that there are 3 froogle results.

You must be thinking about the effects on the Adwords advertisers HM.

Right. I thought these links used to go to Froogle, not directly to the merchants. I could be wrong.

Yes. Odd that a company that wants you to advertise with them is diminishing the value of your advertising by putting something else in front of your ad. What's even more odd is that they aren't making money doing it.

Perhaps they are trying to promote Froogle more? These definitely are links to those listed in Froogle, not any sort of Adwords ads. They don't show up using the AdSense WebSearch though.

The top three are the top 3 listings in Froogle itself when you do a search for the same keyword.

So was I right in thinking that those listings at the top used to go to a page on Froogle.com or am I confused? I don't want to cause any false alarms.

No, the top 3 "product search results" have always linked direct to the merchant.

I do believe that is what is going on.

Less than a week ago I saw Froogle listings start appearing for terms completly unrelated to products. .."reaching"..
