are froogle rankings dependent on the presence of images?

I notice results with images at the top

I have been working with froogle for a relatively short time. I thought it ranks listings by "relevance" (won't question that!) and then by price..

However, I have noticed that the chaps with images seem to be on top. Is that right? Although our listing has no image, it is relevant and is cheaper than all listings on the page. Yet, there we are the bottom.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld dataKris.

I am assuming that your results in Froogle are from the regular Googlebot crawl and not from submitting a feed. Froogle gives pages submitted from feeds top billing while using the products it finds from the regular crawl as back-fill.

If you are using a feed, I would suggest you add an image as Froogle states that they use all of the fields (even the optional ones) to determine the relevance of a page.
