We are all familiar with the Froogle product search results that are displayed above the regular serps for certain KW searches. Do we have an idea as to what triggers these results being displayed for some KW queries and not others?

I have not been able to see any automated rhyme or reason, maybe it is a manually maintained list of keywords?

My thought was google might be looking at adwords data to identify possible "products" to include.

Here is a good article.

Quoting Craig Nevill-Manning (Google senior staff research scientist)

For a fairly small subset of queries that we strongly believe indicate users are looking to purchase a product, we show three results above the Web results. They are intended to help people get the information they need as quickly as possible -- just as we show results from News or Local Search if we detect that it might be helpful.
